ODCP Joins National Partnership in Announcing Toll-Free Helpline for Parents of Kids who are Using Drugs or Drinking The Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy and the Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse, in affiliation with The Partnership for Drug Free Kids at www.drugfree.org , today announced a new toll-free telephone helpline dedicated to helping parents and families speak to a qualified social worker about their child’s drug use or drinking. For more information see this link: http://odcp.ky.gov/Pages/default.aspx
The Parents Toll-Free Helpline – 1-855-DRUGFREE (1-855-378-4373) – is staffed by social workers with practical experience in substance abuse intervention and treatment from Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm. These specialists offer advice to help parents plan a course of action for teens who are struggling with substance abuse and, if appropriate, supply a list of resources or treatment facilities in their area.
Time to Get Help has made two e-books available to download. Attached are the two books: Intervention and Treatment. Both books provide great resources to parents/guardians to help them talk openly with their children about drugs and alcohol and how to get the right help for them.
Provided below is a list of resources within the community available to help with several different needs and services. Please see the attached document at the bottom of the page for a more detailed listing:
Insurance KCHIP- What is KCHIP? The Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP) is free or low cost health insurance for children. KCHIP is for children under the age of 19 who do not have health insurance and whose family income is below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For example, a family of four can earn up to $42,400 a year.
We know your children's health is important to you, but you may be facing various barriers, like cost or lack of benefits through your employer, that prevent the purchase of health insurance. Whatever the reason might be, your family may qualify for coverage through KCHIP (information provided by http://kidshealth.ky.gov/en/kchip/ ).
